We are very lucky to be surrounded by some fabulous places to eat within a few minutes’ drive of Chapel Lawn. If you are planning to eat out, please phone ahead to check opening times and availability to avoid disappointment. Taxis are limited in the area and are best pre-booked.
In Leintwardine (15-minute drive) there is the excellent The Lion pub (SY7 0JZ / 01547 540203). You can also order fish and chips from the Fiddler’s Elbow chippy (SY7 0LP / 01547 317066) to eat by the river or, in the summer months, in the garden of The Sun Inn next door.
Just across the Welsh border, Knighton (10-minute drive) has the Horse & Jockey (LD7 1AE / 01547 520062) and The Banc (LD7 1BW / 01547 520009). Knighton also has Saffron, an Indian Restaurant, and several takeaways.
A couple of miles beyond Knighton is The Castle Inn in Knucklas (LD7 1PW / 01547 528150), which offers some delicious Thai dishes as well as traditional pub food.
Clun (10-minute drive) has two pubs, both serving food – the White Horse (SY7 8JA / 01588 418827) serves good pub food and a fine selection of real ales, including their own Clun Pale Ale. The Sun (SY7 8JB / 01588 640559) also serves food but their opening times do vary.
Slightly further afield, but well worth the 25-minute journey, is the Riverside at Aymestry (HR6 9ST / 01568 708440) - more a restaurant than a pub and very dog-friendly too.
In Ludlow there are several pubs serving good food. The Queens, The Church Inn and the Blue Boar are all in the centre of town. If you'd like a view across the river then The Charlton Arms is just across Ludford Bridge on the edge of town. On the A49 just this side of Ludlow there is the Clive Arms, part of the Ludlow Farmshop family. Also in Ludlow, we can highly recommend Parkway Tasca tapas bar, Sourced Pizza and Athena Greek Taverna.
